What should I look for when buying used Skis and Snowboards?
- Skis/Snowboards
- When purchasing used skis or snowboards, the condition of the equipment can often be easy to gauge. However, there are a few specific signs of wear to watch for. Rusty edges, a dry base, and minor topsheet scratches are common with used gear and can typically be fixed with a basic tune-up.
- Ski Bindings
- Binding Serviceability (Indemnification)
- Each year, ski and binding manufacturers release a list of bindings they no longer support, classifying them as "non-indemnified." When a binding is non-indemnified, most shops won’t adjust it, as doing so would make them fully liable for its performance rather than the manufacturer. This is an important, often overlooked consideration when purchasing used skis.
- We do a thorough check of our inventory to ensure that all bindings we sell are still under the manufacturer indemnification program.

Do my skis need to be serviced/tuned before use?
- You MUST have your bindings adjusted and tested by a certified ski technician before use. The technician will be able to set your bindings to the correct boot to binding configuration, establish the indicator value, and perform a system test. This can be done at your local ski shop. Failure to do so may result in serious injury. You may also wish to have the skis tuned - which can usually be done at the same location.
How do I know if my boots will fit into a ski binding?
- Every pair of ski boots have a Boot Sole Length (BSL) which is the portion of the sole of the boots that fits into the ski’s bindings, measured in millimeters. Likewise, each pair of skis with bindings has a Boot Sole Length Range – the range of BSL that the bindings can accommodate. A pair of boots and a pair of skis are considered compatible if the BSL of the boots is within the BSL range of the skis.
- All of our listings for skis and boots will have this information included in the Listing Description / Item Specifics. If you are checking for an already owned pair of boots, the BSL tends to be printed on the side, heel of the item. You may need to inquire with a ski technician if checking the BSL range of an already owned pair of skis.
What is Mondo Size or Mondo Point?
- It is a universal sizing system for ski and snowboard boots that measures the length of a boot or shoe in centimeters (cm)
